To support business in keeping up with their online promotions in these unstable times Google released $800+ million.
Among that support Google has dedicated $340 million in Google Ads credits available to all SMBs with active accounts over the past year. Credit notifications will appear in their Google Ads accounts and can be used at any point until the end of 2020 across our advertising platforms. We hope it will help to alleviate some of the cost of staying in touch with their customers.
Here is what you need to know in order to be entitled to these credits:
What is an advertising credit?
Amount provided (once) by Google in the form of a credit (no repayment obligations). If the advertising credit is not used by December 31, 2020, Google reserves the right to cancel the undrawn portion of the advertising credit.
For what period can the “advertising credit” be used?
It is important to specify that the advertising credit can only be used for future periods until December 31, 2020. Advertisers cannot use the amount provided to cover past expenses – ie the advertising credit is not valid for both past and current costs already charged.
What is the exact amount that each advertiser will receive?
Advertising credit is not a fixed amount. It is calculated based on past costs in Google Ads, the country, and the currency and billing address of the Google Ads account. The only specificity that Google gives regarding the amount is that the provided credit will not amount to more than $ 1,000.
For which types of campaigns is ad credit applicable?
The advertising credit will be applicable in the Google Ads platform, including Google Search, Google Display & Youtube, as well as for all types of campaigns.
Do I have to apply in advance and who can take advantage of the advertising credit?
It’s important to note that an advertiser automatically receives an advertising credit (one-time) in their advertising account without first applying for it. As soon as the advertising account receives the credit, the account owner is notified by email sent by the Google team. Credits will apply automatically if your Google Ads advertising accounts meet the following conditions:
- comply with the Google advertising policies * (https://support.google.com/adspolicy/answer/6008942);
- be identified as a small and medium business;
- to have been active (ie to have spent funds) in the last 10 of the 12 months of 2019;
- be active in January and February 2020;
- the country for which the account is on Google’s pre-created credit list by country.
Note
It is possible that you, like us, have come across spam ads that distribute Fake news to obtain an advertising credit. In case you are not, we enclose a photo so that you are not misled and know what they look like:
You can also check your account today to see if it has received a voucher by going to ads.google.com and accessing the main campaign interface. The notification is in the form of a bar above the title section, which states the amount allocated to you.
Just because you don’t have one yet doesn’t mean it’s not applicable. In our company the number of projects for which vouchers are added is increasing every day and we expect the process to continue in the coming weeks. If you need answers to your questions and assistance for proper absorption of advertising credit and your budget, please contact us and our team can advise you.
